Technically, you’re right. But such words are difficult to pronounce, so they’ve been supplanted with “expostulate.”

I was leaning toward the premise of a new marriage not lasting.
Sounds like a good name for a band.

A band with a name like that, had better have a good drummer.

Expostulate sounds like Exasperate and the meanings are similar. For you can be exasperated while expostulating.
