Stolen Quote: Pride

There is perhaps no one of our natural passions so hard to subdue as pride. Disguise it, struggle with it, beat it down, stifle it, mortify it as much as one pleases, it is still alive, and will every now and then peep out and show itself; you will see it, perhaps, often in this history; for even if I could conceive that I had completely overcome it, I should probably be proud of my humility.

Benjamin Franklin–The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin

Maybe the best way to rid ourselves of pride, is to feel ashamed at our inability to rid ourselves of it.

  1. I would have thought that pride is a necessary component of a healthy self-esteem. Too much, of course, is a problem. Money is probably a good analogy in that it is necessary for us to live a “healthy happy life”, but too much will generate attract all kinds of problems! Bit like rain …… just the right amount is great, but too much?????? Making a point is good, but going on and on and on is…….. I’ll stop right here! πŸ™‚

  2. I think there are some stooges that feel prideful when they get a ….”smacking head”… emoji from a certain person! But that person is still feeling relaxed as we cruise back to Pa,, so sorry, not going to happen yet. πŸ™‚
