Stolen Quote: The System

Is the system going to flatten you out and deny you your humanity, or are you going to be able to make use of the system to the attainment of human purposes?
Joseph Campbell, American author
I’m not sure. I’d better come up with a system for dealing with the system.
The system has a system for dealing with people who have systems.

That’s okay, I’m systematically preparing for that.

I use the Dewey Decimal System as nobody remembers how that works anymore.

You must own a lot of books.
I use the Metric System, as it appears our country will never be able to figure it out.

There is an ounce of truth to that.

If only our political liters could understand that.

Perhaps it is a grammatical problem.

Maybe, but my grampa understood the metric system.

That’s good inductive reasoning and you should meet with no resistance here. It doesn’t take much to spark a session of punnery with us.

I have to admit that such an unmetered alternating punnery challenges my capacitance, and it just hertz too much to hold them back. But I appreciate the ability to generate some hidden joules.

Yep, and he’d cheat on my gramma, with some old barfly he hung out with. He wanted to introduce me to her, but hell I wouldn’t pay one cent to meet ‘er.

I’d better go static on this thread, before I cause someone to blow a fuse with any of the things sparking into my head. But if your grampa’d had any standards, I bet he’d of been right on the money with a real live wire.

Jason’s an electrical engineer. So if anyone can come up with a comeback to that, he conduit.

If Carolyn reads this it might break ‘er, but this is a common problem. I am mostly neutral on all these puns, though it does provide a nice outlet for me to relieve some high tension. So don’t step-down on my account.

Oh gosh, a “common problem!” Haha! One that is helped out by certain people, but ooh how can I stand in the way of you relieving high tension. 🙂

Carolyn’s probably saturated. But it’s all good with me, as long as there’s no charge for tapping any of these sparks of wisdom. I can just go with the flow.

Well, I don’t think she is bi-polar, but she may tire of this unregulated and silicon-versation. I really should attempt to gate the source of this pun emitter that I am.

Oooh wait! You don’t think I am bi-polar?? ! I don’t know whether to thank you or throw something! LOL! You all are too much, I need to go find Teressa’s Mom and Betsy, and you all can keep letting your crazy sparks fly. 🙂

I was just trying to make a pun based on bi-polar transistor logic. No offence.

No offense taken, I mean that would obviously be crazy for me to think that you thought I was crazy!😉 Now I need to shake my magic bell and go talk to my talking animals.

When you make puns out of science, mathematical and electrical terms you hurt my head even more! I actually just read the “might break’er” comment again and got the pun this time! 😶🤚

Puns are not supposed to hurt. They’re supposed to bring joy into the world. I may have to re-examine my life now.

Welll…I can’t deny that I can’t help but laugh at the same time that I am …smacking my head… as I read the puns. Laughter does bring joy, so I guess in a roundabout way …. LOL!
Though I think they bring you guys more joy, when you see this … 😶🤚!

I think Carolyne actually stays fairly positive. I flux-uate, occasionally fielding a few stray lines. Lately resistant to solidly stating anything, I find that getting all hot and charged up provides more potential to rectify what I emit before it all goes down the tubes.

I think the quote is from Joseph Campbell’s “The Power of Myth” interviews with Bill Moyers. Campbell’s answer was essentially “No”. He was comparing the soulless mechanisms of social bureaucracy to Darth Vader.
Have to say, I’m inclined to agree.

So, no, the system would not flatten him, or no, he would not be able to make us of it?
