Holding Trump’s Balls
Last year on December 17th, I predicted that Trump would be impeached and gone by the end of 2019. How stupid of me.

Senate Majority Turtle, Mitch McConnell.
Trying to predict politics is like trying to augur the outcome of a grasshopper race. But at least I was partly right, because Trump was impeached exactly one year and one day after my post. However I didn’t predict that our Senate Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell, would promise a quick acquittal for our Gaslighter-in-Chief.
The grasshopper jumped backward.

Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi.
And now the grasshopper has jumped another odd direction. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi is withholding the articles of impeachment from the Senate, until she’s sure Trump will receive a fair trial.
Pundits and politicians from both parties have puzzled over this move. Some worry that Americans will lose interest in impeachment, the longer the trial is delayed. Some claim she has no leverage. And some taunt her by saying she’s too scared to send the articles over.
But I think it’s an act of genius. Hanging onto the articles could make the grasshopper jump in any of these four directions:
- It could allow Mitch and Nancy to move legislation and pass laws. Mitch has said that he won’t put his large backlog of bills before the Senate unless he knows the president will sign them. Well Mitch, now you have some leverage. Either the president promises to sign some bills, or you make a deal with Nancy. It’s ironic. The most partisan impeachment in history has potential for the most bipartisan legislation in history.
- It might lead Republican senators who are up for re-election next year, to vote for conviction. Right now they’re caught in a bind. If they vote to convict, they’ll lose their primaries, even when it would help them in the general election. But if the trial is held after they’ve already won their primaries, they’ll only have the general election to worry about.
- It allows time to force more evidence before the trial occurs. The fight for subpoenaed documents and witnesses might be resolved by the Supreme Court before the Senate trial occurs. This might pile more damning evidence upon the current mountain of evidence against Trump.
- But most importantly, I think, holding this Sword of Damocles over Trump’s head could motivate him to be a good little boy. He’s pissed off Republicans before, but never while at their mercy during an impeachment trial. Now he might think twice before going off half-cocked and doing things that jeopardize our national security or our economic stability.
So keep dangling that sword, Nancy. Or how about this metaphor? The two articles of impeachment you’re hanging onto are like Trump’s balls. Don’t let go. Make the son-of-a-bitch sweat until perhaps this summer. How about a Senate trial during the Republican National Convention, for instance?
His balls are in your court Nancy. Put the squeeze on hard before you give them a whack toward the Senate’s court.
In a way, perhaps I was right about Trump being gone by the end of 2019. For while he will still occupy the White House into 2020, maybe he won’t be the same Trump we’ve known. Maybe, just maybe, he’ll turn into someone unrecognizable:
A mild-mannered man with no balls.
Both my parents were in “the theatre business”, and so much went on back stage to present what the audience saw on-stage! I can see a parallel here … and I would love to hear about all the maneuvering currently going on “back-stage”! Money “talks”, and I bet there is a lot of “talking” going on. So many careers are poised for ……. what? If it was a story generally classified as a political thriller, it would be a wonderful read but, given that this is US politics at work … it’s pathetic, not because of the games now being played, but rather that the supposed democratic system of a major country has actually got itself into this position. I can’t help but think that when it is over and the dust has settled, it will be the average American who will be paying the price … and it will likely be in hard $$$$$.

Makes you just really want to emigrate to America doesn’t it!

He’s a white male, so he’s certainly welcome under our current rules.

Sadly, money talks in all countries so it’s more a case of which one presents itself as the best of a bad lot. I chose Canada.

Yes, the language of money is one understood by rhe whole world!

No doubt, much more is going on “backstage” than the political theater is indicating.
But I’m not sure we’re in agreement about the “supposed” democratic system. Democracy is messy by its very design. And this is messy democracy in action. We elected Democrats in 2018, and now they’re holding our Republican president accountable.
Rather than Americans paying a monetary price for all this, it may actually save us some money. With Trump stymied by the Democrats, he’s less likely to get away with his corrupt schemes.
I still have faith in our system of checks and balances. For the time being, they seem to be working.

Leave it to you to bring a smile out of this whole impeachment process, by the metaphor you chose to you! Oh gosh! This whole process can drive anyone to the brink of insanity, with listening to the Republicans defending him and listening to Trump whine as he claims persecution. I wonder if he took drama class in school? He probably got an A in it!

Just stay out of the heads of those Republicans, and you won’t go crazy. They have to ignore reality to save their careers. As for sanity, or the well-being of our country, they apparently could care less.
Trump seems to be a natural when it comes to drama, so I don’t think he had to take any drama classes. But if he did, then I agree that he probably got an A. He really knows how to put on a dog-and-pony show.
At least one thing’s for sure. You can’t get bored following politics these days.

My prediction is that this will be save for a bit later to be used as a campaign tool. I think that just about everything politicians do is involved in their next election.

May very well happen. And both sides will attempt to use this in their favor, to win election.

It’s a great theory… doubt if it will happen. Trump will double down on witch-hunt and tweet about every Republican that doesn’t immediately pledge personal loyalty to him — regardless of facts. But I hope you are right and I’m wrong.

I suspect you’re the right one, though I do enjoy living in a fool’s paradise. Trump is so stupid, he probably fails to understand how vulnerable he is. Which might just work out for him, if he can keep bullying Republicans into submission.
Then again, if he was smart, he wouldn’t be in this pickle in the first place.

And if Americans would have been smart, they never would have voted for him in the first place!!

Maybe we Americans need to start taking smart pills.

Narcissists don’t think twice. In their minds they’ve done nothing wrong and it’s everyone else’s fault. At least there has been an attempt to impeach. Here’s hoping it happens but I don’t hold my breath.

Well technically, he has been impeached. But impeachment is not the same as removal. It’s more like an indictment. Now there has to be a trial, and that’s held in the Senate. Where the Republicans are in the majority.
If you held your breath waiting for his removal, you’d turn as blue as a Democrat. It probably won’t happen, but we can only hope.

Yeah it sucks that his trial is held by his side of things. Sigh..Turning blue as I type.

I hope Nancy grabs those balls and squeezes them so hard that we hear the screaming on the other side of the world. Then I hope she twists. Really hard. Beyond that, I hope you’re right and that this nightmare may end soon, even if it means cutting out that doofus’ legs and shutting him up until someone reasonable can replace him.

Trump had better be very nice, or Nancy might just have your hopes fulfilled. But he’s so frickin’ stupid, I wonder if he’s smart enough to know to be nice. It’s going to be interesting to see how all this plays out.

I really don’t know what to say here, Tippy. The stink coming from Washington is so bad right now, I think it will take a lot more than an impeachment to set things right again 😕

I think you’re right. Impeachment would be a good step forward, though.
